Apollo's Fire

Apollo's Fire introduces the Baroque Bistro series, adventurous concerts that explore the crossroads of art and tradition.  The first program is called Wing It,  Where Baroque Meets Jazz with performances Friday, October 26, at Mustard Seed Market in Montrose, and Sunday, October 28, at the Music Box Supper Club in Cleveland.


Beck Center Studio Theater

The first production of the season in the Studio Theater at Beck Center in Lakewood is Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?  It opens October 5th and runs through November 4th.  216-521-2540  ext 10  

Blank Canvas Theater

Trey Parker’s Cannibal:  The Musical is being presented by Blank Canvas Theater October 5th through 27th at the West 78th Street Studio Theater. 

Cleveland Chamber Music Society

The next concert to be presented by the Cleveland Chamber Music Society features baritone Holger Falk with pianist Julius Drake.  They’ll perform songs by Schubert, Eisler, Poulenc and Satie.  It takes place on Tuesday evening, October 23 at Forest Hill Church Presbyterian, a different venue than is usual.   216-291-2777

Cleveland Institute of Music

At the Cleveland Institute of Music, the New Music Ensemble will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky’s Histoire du Soldat with the world premiere of a new film by the video artist Kasumi.  There’ll be other music of Stravinsky and Esa-Pekka Salonen as well on Friday evening, October 26th, in Mixon Hall. 

Cleveland Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra will be led by guest conductor Ingo Metzmacher in a pair of concerts at Severance Hall on Thursday and Saturday evenings, October 25th and 27th.  Violinist Christian Tetzlaff will be the soloist in Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto.  On Friday evening, October 26th, organist Todd Wilson will provide the solo organ accompaniment for a showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s  silent film classic The Lodger.  216-231-1111  

Dobama Theater

Dobama Theater will have the Midwest premiere of the play John by Annie Baker October 19th through November 11th.   216-932-9336  

East Cleveland Theater

East Cleveland Theater has the play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde running weekends through October 28th.  330-554-6076  

French Creek Theater

Lorain County Metro Parks French Creek Theater has Little Shop of Horrors October 12th through the 28th.  440-949-5200  

Great Lakes Theater Festival

The musical Mamma Mia opens the season for the Great Lakes Theater Festival at the Hann Theater in Playhouse Square.  It’s playing September 28th through November 11th.  216-241-6000  

Groundworks Dance Theater

Groundworks Dance Theater celebrates twenty years of performances with its Fall Dance Series on Friday and Saturday, October 26th and 27th, at the Allen Theater in Playhouse Square.  

Trinity Lutheran Church

The weekly noontime Music Near the Market series at Trinity Lutheran Church on West 30th Street in Cleveland will feature organist Robert Myers performing Music of the Reformation, compositions by Bach, Walther and others.  216-281-1700  

Weathervane Playhouse

In the Founders Theater at Akron’s Weathervane Playhouse, it’s the Hunchback of Notre Dame, with music from the Disney film version as well as new songs by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz.  It opens October 11th and continues through October 28th.  330-836-2626
