After Budget Battle, Ohio House Moves To Other Issues

After sending the budget bill to the state Senate, the Ohio House is ready to set its sights on other issues. Statehouse reporter Andy Chow has details.

Republican House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger of Clarksville says there's still plenty of work to do. For example, revisiting Gov. John Kasich's provisions to improve case management, to help people off of public aid.

And the House will consider a Senate resolution to create an independent commission that determines the salaries of public officials. Supporters say this makes sure elected officials don't give themselves raises.

Rosenberger says he wants a closer look at that.

"I think that we're elected to make decisions here in the Legislature and that we should take that serious and make sure it's a responsible one," said Rosenberger.

The speaker also wants to tackle issues dealing with unemployment compensation and education.
