As the 2017 football season kicks off, concerns raised over player safety and long-term consequences of playing the game remain. From its inception, it's been a rough and tumble sport. Currently, at the Canton Museum of Art is the exhibit "Scrimmage: Football in American Art from the Civil War to the Present" where many well-known artists tackle the topics of violence, culture, history and athleticism in the game.
