Joel Grey, Les Delices and Near West Theatre

Joel Grey is the quintessential triple threat: an accomplished actor, singer and dancer who has won virtually every major acting award in the world! Joel was born in Cleveland, and got his start at the Cleveland Play House. Not long ago, he came home to tour the new digs at the Allen Theatre in Playhouse Square.

Northeast Ohio is flush with top-notch classical music and musicians. And now, something new. A young oboe player recently created a troupe that focuses on a single style of music - French Baroque. Her name is Debra Nagy and her acclaimed ensemble is called Les Delices.

On the corner of West 67 and Detroit, construction of a new home is about to begin for the Near West Theatre. Since their founding in 1978, they've rented space on the third floor of a church in Ohio City with little air conditioning and no elevator. When the new complex opens in 2014, that all changes: the theater gains rehearsal space, as well as other amenities. Recently, dozens of Near West alumni and friends joined Artistic Director Bob Navis Jr. and Executive Director, Stephanie Morrison Hrbek for a groundbreaking full of theatrics.Actor Joel Grey
