Cleveland’s iconic “Sax Man” dies at 65

Maurice Reedus Jr., the street musician whose saxophone playing was a downtown Cleveland staple, has died at age 65. His family said Reedus, the subject of a 2014 documentary film called “The Sax Man,” died in his East Side apartment over the weekend. His death stills the lonely wail that greeted a generation of theater-goers at Playhouse Square and sports fans outside Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena. ideastream’s Rick Jackson offers this appreciation of Cleveland’s favorite busker.
