The Sound of Ideas: Church Safety Preparedness; New Oberlin College President

A deadly mass shooting at a small Texas church has renewed and intensified the focus on security in places of worship. A forum in Middleburgh Heights on November 20 will address preparedness for faith based institution.   Religious leaders in Akron had similar training in July.   Places of worship are by their very nature open. How can they balance being welcoming with being more secure? And what about the role they'd play in the event of a natural disaster or a pandemic?  Later, we'll meet new Oberlin College President Carmen Twillie Ambar, the first African-American president in the school's history

Marcus Coleman, Acting Deputy Director, Center for Faith-Based & Neighborhood Partnerships, Department of Homeland Security
Pastor Herman Matherson, Chief Operating Officer, House of the Lord, Akron
Joe Hendry, National Trainer, ALICE Training Institute
