Art Song Festival

The  Art Song Festival returns to the Cleveland Institute of Music May 23rd through the 28th. This week-long festival includes recitals and master classes featuring Festival Artists soprano Tamara Wilson with pianist Warren Jones, and tenor David Portillo with pianist Craig Terry. 

Baldwin Wallace University

At Baldwin Wallace University, it's the world premiere of the new opera  “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” by Griffin Candey with libretto by OBIE Award-winner Caridad Svich.  It's based on Garcia Lorca’s last play.  The opera was co-commissioned by Baldwin Wallace University and Cleveland Opera Theater.
Performances take place Thursday through Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon, June 9th through 12th at the Mainstage Theater o fht eKleist Center for Art and Drama.

Beck Center Studio Theater

Lakewood's Beck Center will present the regional premiere of Matthew Lopez's The Legend of Georgia McBride in the Studio Theater as the cornerstone of the first annual Diversity Week celebration.  Matthew Lopez was the first Latino writer to win the Tony Award ® for Best Play.  The show runs May 27 to June 26, with a preview night on May 26th.  

Bop Stop

At The Bop Stop on Detroit Road you can hear Red Light Roxy on Friday evening, May 27th, Bob Holz and A Vision Forward on Saturday the 28th, Gerald Clayton talking about Improvisation at the piano on June 1st and 2nd. presented with Piano Cleveland, and  Hilario Duran's trio will be there on the 3rd of June, followed by a late-night jam session.

ChamberFest Cleveland

The tenth season of ChamberFest Cleveland will take place June 16th through July 3rd.  There'll be a dozen concerts over three weekends at a variety of venues, incluidng 3 encore performances at The Grove in Mayfield Village, the Cleveland Institute of Music,  The Madison and Cultural Arts Center at Disciples Church.  

Choral Arts Cleveland

Brian Bailey will direct Choral Arts Cleveland in the world premiere of the Mass in C by 19th-Century American composer George Bristow.  Mr. Bailey prepared the first modern printed edition of Bristow's Mass, which appears never to have been performed during the composer's lifetime. The performance will take place on Wednesday evening, June 8th, at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights.  

Church of the Covenant

At the Church of the Covenant in University Circle, there are two series of drive-in carillon concerts, performed on the McGaffin Carillon  on Fridays at lunchtime, 12:15, and on Sunday afternoons at 4:00. 

Clague Playhouse

Clague Playhouse presents "Same Time, Next Year" by Bernard Slade to conclude its 94th Season.  The play runs through Sunday, May 29, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.  440-331-0403 

Cleveland Chamber Collective

The Cleveland Chamber Collective returns to Disciples Church on Sunday afternoon, June 5, with another installment of its Music of America series. This program features works by Jessie Montgomery, William Grant Still, George Walker, and Cleveland-based composers Ryan Charles Ramer and Ty Alan Emerson.

Cleveland Cinematheque

The May - June schedule for  Cleveland Cinemateque will feature 16 different programs in the Premiere Showcase seires,  21 films in the Second Look category, including Soylent Green, Distant and Nosferatu, and showcases examining the Iberian Triology of Bigas Luna and films of Kinuyo Tanaka.

Cleveland Federation of Musicians

The Cleveland Federation of Musicians Local 4 will present the Lake Effect Piano Trio performing Steven Greenman's Klezmer Suite on Saturday evening, May 28th, at Disciples Church on Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights.  

Cleveland Federation of Musicians She Scores

The Cleveland Federation of Musicians will present its second annual She Scores New Music Festival, featuring new works by more than a dozen living female regional composers.  Performances will take place at Harkness Chapel on the Case Western Reserve Campus June 23rd through 25th.  



Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival

Guitars International will present the twenty-second annual Cleveland International Guitar Festival and the third annual James Stroud Youth Classical Guitar Competition at the Cleveland Institute of Music June 2nd through 5th.  There'll be solo recitals by Drew Henderson and Petra Polackova  and duo recitals with guitar paired with violin, harp and flute, as well as another guitar.  There'll be master classes as well.  216-752-7502

Cleveland Orchestra

At Mandel Concert Hall,Michael Tilson-Thomas will return to lead the Cleveland Orchestra in four concerts April 28th through May 1st, with musi by Tchaikovsky, Faure and Britten.  Music Director Franz Welser-Moest will lead the CLeveland Orchestra in concerts on  Cleveland Orchestra concerts at Mandel Concert Hall on May 12th, 14th and 20th, a program that wil inlcude Schubert's Ninth Symphony as well as music of  Alban Berg and Wolfgang Rihm.  And on May 21st, 2th and 29th, it's a concert performance of Verdi's Otello.  And on the 27th and 28th, riday and Saturday, two different programs called Breaking Conventions, mixing muisc of Ives, Shostakovich, Gubaidulina, Walker, Barber and others. 

Cleveland Playhouse

At the Allen Theater in Playhouse Square, the Cleveland Playhouse has the stage adaptation of The Three Musketeers opening April 30th and running through May 22nd.  216-241-6000

Cleveland Public Library

At Cleveland Public Library Main Branch, there'll be a free summer concert series in the Fine Arts Department in the 3rd floor lobby on Saturday afternoons.  On June 4th, Good Company:  A Vocal Ensemble will perform, and on August 6th, jazz pianist Theron Brown' Trio will be featured.  216-623-2848

Cleveland Public Theater

Cleveland Public Theater presentsThe Absolutely Amazing and True Adventures of Ms. Joan Evelyn Southgate, written and perfomed by Nina Domingue, at the Gordon Square Theater April 21st through May 14th.  216-631-2727

Cleveland Public Theater

Cleveland Public Theater is presenting Station Hope 2022 on Saturday evening, May 28th.  It's a community event celebrating Cleveland’s social justice heritage and exploring contemporary struggles for freedom and equity. There will be more than 200 artists and fifty community and professional arts and cultural organizations from across Northeast Ohio on the grounds of Cleveland's first authenticated Underground Railroad site, St. John's Episcopal Church.  Station Hope is free, family-friendly, and open to all.

Divinty Lutheran Church

On Sunday afternoon, November 21st at 2:00, the Arts and Action Committee concert series at Divinity Lutheran Church in Parma Heights will present Cleveland Orchestra memebrs Elayna Duitman, violin, and Carolyn Gadiel Warner, piano and violin, .  They'll of Mozart, Bach and Franck 

Dobama Theater

Dobama Thtater's current production is Life Sucks - sort of adapted from Checkov's Uncle Vanya by Aaron Posner.  It's playing through May 22nd.   

Great Lakes Theater Festival

A stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's The Thirty-Nine Steps will be the finale of the Great Lakes Theater Festival's season, from April 29th through May 22nd in the Hanna Theater.  It's Hitchcock mixed with a spy novel and a helping of Monty Python as well, as four actors play 150 characters. 216-241-6000

North Coast Men's Chorus

Richard Cole directs the North Coast Men's Chorus  in two performances of Our Great Big Broadway Show, highliting a variety of Broadway musicals. Saturday evening, June 18th and Sunday afternoon June 19th are the dates at the Breen Center for the Performing Arts at St. Ignatius High School.

Ohio Light Opera

Ohio Light Opera has  announced its plans for the summer at the College of Wooster.  The box office will open to the public on Wednesday, January 19th. The season begins June 22nd and continues through July 31st.  There'll be six shows in all, including the Rodgers and Hammerstein version of Cinderella, Hello Dolly, The Student Prince, Pirates of Penzance and The Mock Marriage.  Those five shows will be performed indoors, while the Fantasticks will be staged outdoors. . 330-263-2345   

Ohio Light Opera

Ohio Light Opera's season begins June 18th with the Rodgers and Hammerstein version of Cinderella, followed by Hello Dolly and four other shows through July 31st.  330-263-2345 

Piano Cleveland

As part of its Prelude to Piano Days series, Piano Cleveland presents  Conversations on Improvisations with  jazz pianist and composer Gerald Clayton.  He'll be at THe Bop Stop on June 1st and 2nd 

Players Guild Theater

The Players Guild Theater in Canton is presenting Ghost:  The Musical, based on the 1990 romantic fantasy thriller film.  The show opens May 6th.  330-453-7617

Playhouse Square Broadway Series My Fair Lady

The Playhouse Square Broadway Series brings the national touring company of My Fair Lady to Playhouse Square June 7th through 22nd.

Porthouse Theater

Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University's summer theatre located on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, presents its 2022 season with Little Shop of Horrors opening on June 16th,  Godspell opening on July 7th and West Side Story opening on July 28th.

Rabbit Run Theater

Emily Dickinson's life is brought to the stage in the one-person play The Belle of Amherst by William Luce.  It's on stage at the Rabbit Run Theater in Madison May 27th through June 11th. 

Rocky River United Methodist Church

The Rocky River United Methodist Church Gifts of Music series concert scheduled for Sunday, May 22nd, has been postponed until next fall.

Tri-C JazzFest

After a two-yearhiatus, the 43rd annual Tri-C JazzFest returns to Playhouse Square June 23 through 25th, with nine indoor shows.  Performers will include Cleveland natives Joe Lovano and Dominic Farinacci, along with John Clayton, John Pizzarelli, Sean Jones, Dave Douglas and many more.  216-987-4444

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at West 30th and Lorain hosts noontime organ recitals every Wednesday at 12:15.  On  Wedneday May 18th and 25th, Robert Myers plays Partita, Partita - variations by Pachelbel, Bach and Georg Boehm.


Verb Ballets will begin its series of summer outdoor shows with a free performance at Cain Park on Saturday evening, June 25th.  The new work, Anti/gone, by award-wining choreographer, Tommie-Waheed Evans will be featured.

Weathervane Playhouse

Weathervane Playhouse in Akron will stage Disney’s Newsies June 2 through the 26, with a score by Alan Menken and book by Harvey Feirstein. Performances run Thursdays through Sundays.  330-836-2626
