The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections announced Tuesday that deputy director Anthony Perlatti will step into the job as director.
Perlatti has worked at the board for a dozen years, according to a news release, and has been deputy director since 2013.
His predecessor, Pat McDonald, left the job in late February after Gov. Mike DeWine appointed him the director of the Ohio Lottery Commission.
Perlatti has been interim director since then. He’s a Democrat, meaning his deputy must come from the GOP. The board named Shantiel Soeder to that job. She’s worked previously in compliance and the ballot department at the board.
With a Democrat in the director’s job, the board chair must come from the Republican Party, too. The board’s website now lists attorney and former judge Jeff Hastings as the BOE’s chairman.
