About a month after an accident at the Lumen building under construction on Playhouse Square, the project’s managers say the damaged garage is almost repaired.
Work on the apartment building attached to the garage is ongoing.
In early October, steel beams fell from a crane, crashing through the top level of the parking garage connected to the apartment building. There was no structural damage or injuries.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause.
Repairs to the damaged garage will be completed in a week or two, according to Wesley Cotter, a spokesman for Gilbane, the Rhode Island-based company overseeing the work.
The likely cause, according to the company, was a faulty strap holding the beams to the crane.
Work on the 34-story, 318-unit Lumen apartment complex is still scheduled for completion next summer. The $135 million construction project is backed by the Playhouse Square Foundation.
