The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazard statement for counties along the lakeshore until 2 p.m. Tuesday due to high swimming risk because of waves and dangerous currents. The city of Huron has closed Nickel Plate Beachafter a second swimmer has gone missing in less than a month. Crews are still searching for a 29-year-old Vermillion woman who went under while swimming with family Sunday. Two weeks ago, an 18-year-old Ashland man drowned trying to save others.
Amazon has not yet released a timeline for the Akron fulfillment center project at the former Rolling Acres Mall, but to prepare for the development, Akron is repaving Romig Road, which runs by the site, and upgrading a nearby freeway interchange.
