Good morning on this Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019. Lent begins in one week.  Are you making plans for Mardi Gras parties this weekend?

Federal Transportation Safety officials found no fault with the way Cleveland Hopkins Airport handled a security breach earlier this month in which a driver crashed his SUV through a perimeter fence and onto the airfield.  Airport chief Robert Kennedy told Cleveland’s city council that TSA and FBI agents are still investigating, but their focus is on the driver, who faces drunken driving and criminal trespass charges.

In Toledo, voters approved a bill of rights for Lake Erie that aims to curb the phosphorus run-off that contributes to the western basin’s algal blooms.  About 61 percent of voters supported the ballot measure.  Turnout was 8.9 percent.  The city charter amendment could face legal challenges from business associations, which campaigned against the measure.

The United Auto Workers has sued General Motors to stop the company from idling three plants, including the one at Lordstown.  Lordstown has drawn support from President Trump, who has campaigned on saving industrial jobs in Ohio.

Cuyahoga County Council unanimously approved a $30 million housing program that will shift the county land bank’s focus from demolishing vacant properties to rehabilitating them. Since its creation in 2009, in the wake of the housing market crash, the land bank has demolished more than 7,000 abandoned properties and has rehabbed about 1,800 of them.

Ohio State beat No. 22 Iowa, 90-70 in men’s college basketball. It was the Buckeyes' first win in five tries against ranked teams this season.  Ohio State is fighting to improve its NCAA Tournament chances.

The Pittsburgh Penguins powered past the new-look Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-2. Jared McCann scored twice.

Weather forecast: Snow likely before 3:00 p.m., then a wintry mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet for the evening commute.  Little or no ice accumulation expected.  High 34.  Low 20.
