3-D Printer Gives Local Teen His Wish

14-year-old Cooper Meshew is battling Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a debilitating neurological condition that caused nerve and muscle loss in his arms and hands and left him unable to write or do simple tasks like buckling his seatbelt. Then his doctor connected him with engineering students at the University of Akron. Using a 3-D printer, they created an adaptable brace with attachments that enable Cooper to again sign his name, participate in activities, and regain some independence. ideastream's Tim Dubravetz spoke with Cooper, his doctors and family, and the students who’ve made such a difference in his life..
