Inauguration Day preparations underway

While Obama was speaking in Washington, things gearing up in D.C. for the Inauguration.

THIS HUGE MAP OF DOWNTOWN WASHINGTON D-C IS BEING USED AS A TRAINING TOOL FOR DONALD TRUMP'S UPCOMING PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION.

MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY AND CIVILIANS WERE INVITED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE MAP TODAY [WEDNESDAY] IN ORDER TO PREPARE FOR THE JANUARY 20TH INAUGURATION.

THE 40-BY-60-FOOT MAP INCLUDES POP-UP BUILDING MODELS OF THE U-S CAPITOL, THE WHITE HOUSE AND TRUMP'S HOTEL. IT ALSO DISPLAYS THE PARADE ROUTE. Major Michael Odle, DC National Guard: "This is one event where we recognize the military is in support of our civilian leaders. So that's why there's a presidential inaugural committee, a pick and there's other committees at the civilian level that helps organize it. And the military is here to support our local civilian, state and federal partners."

THE CHAIRMAN OF DONALD TRUMP'S PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL COMMITTEE EXPECTS TO HOST ABOUT TWO-MILLION PEOPLE -- SO MAKING THE INAUGURATION SAFE AND ORDERLY TAKES A LOT OF PLANNING, BUT NEWSCAT WANTED TO REMIND US THAT IT’S NOT JUST PEOPLE WHO ARE PREPARING FOR THE BIG DAY…

IN FACT, THE NEWEST MEMBERS OF WASHINGTON'S METRO TRANSIT POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE FOUR-LEGGED… AND FURRY. FIVE K-9 OFFICERS JUST GRADUATED FROM THE TRAINING ACADEMY. METRO TRANSIT POLICE CHIEF RON PAVLIK SAYS THE PROMOTIONS COME JUST BEFORE ONE OF THE BIGGEST EVENTS IN THE NATION'S CAPITOL. Chief Ron Pavlik, Metro Transit Police: "We really pushed this class we knew we had the inauguration coming up and no one knows what to expect, we know we can expect counter protesters and all kinds of things going on."

INAUGURATION DAY IS A FEDERAL HOLIDAY, BUT DON’T EXPECT THE DAY OFF OF SCHOOL!
INAUGURATION DAY IS NOT CONSIDERED A “PUBLIC HOLIDAY” – ONLY EMPLOYEES OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN WASHINGTON, D.C GET TO OBSERVE THIS HOLIDAY.
