NewsDepth 2021-2022 | Episode 14

In this week's episode, we hear how a well-known candy manufacturer inspired its hometown to ring in 2022 by putting a sweet spin on a New Year’s tradition – and that got us wondering: what industries are big where you live?

Next, we head to an Ohio hospital, where staff shortages caused by COVID-19 have led them to take on some surprising new recruits.

Then we travel to Japan, where girls are wrestling their way into the traditionally-male Sumo world.

Finally, Margaret takes us fossil hunting with scientists from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and we learn about a once-fierce predator that was uncovered in Ohio.

National Guard (noun): A special part of the military that responds to emergency needs in communities.

Peninsula (noun): A landform surrounded by water on multiple sides, while still being connected to a mainland.

Millipede (noun): A hard-shelled, segmented animal with two pairs of legs on most segments.

We learn about a town that has a lot of love for one of their local businesses. Now we want to know:  What industry is your town known for?
