NewsDepth Inbox: Season 49 - Episode #20

Last week we asked you to write to us about how you would repurpose a vacant building in your neighborhood.

Ella, Dodge Intermediate School: "The building that I would repurpose is Party City. Party City was a party store in Solon, but now it's just an empty building. I would make the building a place where if you rescue a dog you can bring it there and we would take care of them and give them LARGE dog beds, food, water, toys, and anything a dog would really want. We would make one part of the room an adoption center. Also, we would make a collar for each dog and leash. I love dogs!"

Chandler, Shore Middle School: "I would change the purpose of a vacant building like a church by making it have multiple purposes like the gym in school. I would make part of it a shop, an area to rent for parties or personal occasion, and a place for education. That's what I would do to change the purpose of a vacant building."

Delaney Bruehler, Dover Elementary: "I would make a vacant building into an art studio. I would do this because I could donate some of the money to the poor. The money could go to a poor person for them to get food. Secondly I would do this because a lot of people love art. My friends love drawing and painting. Lastly I would do this because some people don't have an art studio in their city or town. People could enjoy an art studio in their town or city. That is why I would make a vacant building into and art studio."

Shianne and Zeke, Monfort Heights: "Dear NewsDepth, What we would do to repurpose a vacant building is we would make a spa for grown-ups because our moms and dads get stressed out. For the kids they can have a play room with a TV and toys. That is what we would do for a vacant building."

Madison, St. Adalbert Catholic School: "I would like to take a big factory and make it into a homeless shelter. Last year I went on a field trip to a shelter. I felt bad because there were people in wheelchairs and had kids. It would have at least 500 apartment type rooms. I would very much like to do it."
