Food Historian Michael Twitty; Anisfield-Wolf Book Award Winner, Tommy Orange

Food historian and educator Michael Twitty brings his culinary and historic journey to Northeast Ohio in a visit to Kent State University. Twitty won the James Beard Award for food writing in 2018 for his book "The Cooking Gene," a look at food history from Africa to America and from slavery to freedom.  We'll talk about how the food of his ancestors helped shaped is identity.  Later, ideastream arts producer Dan Polletta talks with author, Tommy Orange about his novel, "There, There" which challenges perceptions of Native Amercans. Orange is the recipient of this year's Anisfield Wolf Book Award for fiction.  Finally, an update from the Statehouse News Bureau.
